We wanted to experience a nice beach front room, during our snowbird stay in Playa del Carmen, that was away from the noisy bars and restaurants area, when visiting the beautiful Caribbean Island of Isla Mujeres, which is off the coast of Cancun, Mexico.
Our quest was well satisfied when we stayed at the Hotel, Playa La Media Luna. The hotel has a nice mixture of guests, many English speaking ex-pats on extended stays as well as Mexicans. Our unit had a bar refrigerator, but some units have extended cooking arrangements. We were delighted that the hotel had an electricity generator, because less than an hour after we arrived the whole island lost its power, which apparently is quite common. WiFi is good in the pool and bar area – less so in the room. Mobile phone service is also on the weak side.
Unbeatable entry to main pool overlooking the beach area.
The original hotel building has a nice Mexican palapa vibe, with some ground level rooms walking out directly into the pool area. Two newer additions have been added with additional garden pool rather than beach front.
While checking in, you get a sneak peek at the pool and beach area, filled by a nice Caribbean ocean breeze.
Guests at the adjacent hotel have a comfortable shaded experience, in the humid ocean breeze. Other tourists meander along the white sand beach from the nearby Malecon walkway.
View from our 3rd floor room in the newer section at night. I liked the shade tarp during the day, with comfortable seating.
The deck on our room included a hammock which was a great way to feel the cool evening breeze while swaying in the breeze.
Don’t miss the early morning sunrise.
A true pleasure meeting you guys at Royal Palm and sharing experiences here in Panamá
