Living to age 100 if you are healthy and happy is a great aspiration. After watching the Netflix 4 part series by the best selling author “Dan Buettner” got me thinking more about how to achieve that. It goes well beyond the traditional diet and exercise focus to encompass other significant factors, and even goes so far as how to switch YOUR community into a Blue Zone! (Canada and USA: CA: Bakersfield, Beach Cities, Lake County, Mendocino County, Monterey County, Tuolumne County, Upper Nama Valley, Yuba Sutter, Hawaii, ND: Grand Forks, OK: Pottawatomie, TX: Fort Worth, WA: Parkland, Walla Walla Valley, Canada: Airdrie)
Move Naturally, Right Outlook, Eat Wisely, Belong
In the movie, I really liked the way each blue zone visited was summarized with the take aways, like this one for the Greek Isle of Ikaria:
Greece: Herbal tea, Raw Honey, Partnership, Wine, Dancing and Laughing
Italy, Sardinia: Steepness of streets, eat “good” carbs, keep stress low, care for the elders.
USA: Volunteer, Plant based diet, Faith, hang with the right tribe.

Other Blue Zone communities:
- USA: Albert Lea, Minnesota
- USA: Fort Worth
- USA: Southwest Florida
- Spain: Mallorca
- Greece: Crete
- Canada: Alberta, Airdrie
CA: Bakersfield, Beach Cities, Lake County, Mendocino County, Monterey County, Tuolumne County, Upper Nama Valley, Yuba Sutter
HI: Hawaii
ND: Grand Forks, OK: Pottawatomie
TX: Fort Worth
WA: Parkland, Walla Walla Valley
Conclusion
There is no silver bullet, but pretty clear factors if you want to life a HEATHY, long life. Interesting Canadian statistic: Over 9,500 centenarians are now living in Canada — a 16% increase from 2016. Centenarians represent 0.03% of the Canadian population.
