Backup your Facebook Photos

Uncategorized

Would you be sad if your Facebook account was suddenly deleted, causing you to loose all your photos there? Recently I have had friends who had this happen. It could happen if your account is hacked, or if Facebook decides it didn’t like something you posted!

Fortunately Facebook does provide ways to backup your precious photos – if you do it BEFORE a serious event occurs. Its fairly easy if you know where to look. The youTube video below provides good instructions in 2024 for both mobile users and PC users. (It is now part of Meta rather than Facebook). You can either download it to your device (if you have enough space) or transfer it to some other web sites like Google Photos or DropBox.

How to Backup your Facebook Photos

Its in the “Settings and Privacy” section. You may want to try the steps to save just the past week or so, to see how it works, then go for the ALL option, which will take much longer – maybe an hour to prepare the big download file (mine was over 1GB). Note that your photos are included in the “Posts” section shown below.

This guys YouTube video for 2024 gives step by step instructions on a mobile phone first, then on a PC during the 2nd half of his video.

Using the Backup

The resulting backup is not pretty, but does have the photos and information that is on Facebook.

Conclusion

I try to backup my photos about once per year, but if you just had an important event like a wedding, you might do it after that.
